PSP Updating Problems

Your PSP may be working fine for several games but when you put in some games, your PSP will tell you it needs to update before you’re able to play them. The issue is when you try to update it. You may get an error code, or some other issue that’s not allowing the PSP to update. A common one is ‘The update cannot be started. The data is corrupted.’ which your PSP will read.

Before we get into detail about fixing this issue, let us first explain it. The problem is coming up because the PSP is still running a modified version of firmware. This should not happen with our firmware version we use at PandoraBatteryCo, but if you have an older custom firmware installed, or perhaps you bought your PSP like this, it can happen.

To fix this issue, there are a few things you can do. First, backup your memory stick files to your PC harddisc, and clear your memory stick. This should clear up the problem. If this doesn’t repair the issue, your PSP may be bricked. In that case, your going to need to get a Pandora battery as well as a Magic Memory Stick so you can unbrick it.

Remember, if your not using or planning on using homebrew to keep your PSP updated to the latest firmware to help ensure top performance.
